Amzad heard the Good News as a teenager when he made the decision to follow Jesus Christ as his Savior and Master for the rest of his life. Coming from a family who were not following Christ, Amzad had to undergo difficulties in practicing his new found faith including studying the scripture in secret. God blessed him and many years later his brothers and sisters along with his mother decided to follow the Lord.

Amzad married Yoorila who had also accepted Jesus as her Master during her student days and trained to be a teacher. Yoorila moved on to serve in several schools and colleges. She loves to mentor young people in her college as well as in the church. She now serves in a college in Shillong where she leads the counseling cell.

Amzad started his career as a banker and used his profession to actively witness his faith in Jesus Christ. He served in Shillong and Mumbai and also had the opportunity to serve in Nepal for some years. During his time in Nepal he actively helped in leadership development and mentored many young people. He took voluntary retirement from the bank and now serves as the CEO of a Christian Micro-Credit institution SOFMEDA, which extends loans to the poor in 4 States of the Northeast and recently all the 31 staff including the members of the Board were commissioned as Missionaries in reaching the market places for Jesus. SOFMEDA operates as BAM – "Business as Mission". More than 95% of its clients are women.

Amzad and Yoorila are still involved in an Open Home Ministry which they had started in 1978 soon after their marriage and many young EU students were mentored by them. Today many of these students have started the same ministry by offering a home away from home to the EU students who are far away from their parents.

Amzad and Yoorila are passionate to share the Good News to the people of Assam and have adopted several villages where they personally mentor and train young men and women to be disciples of Jesus Christ. Through their efforts they have been able to establish 31 "House Churches". They work closely with a local church in Guwahati in this unique ministry among the Assamese.

They both are blessed with a lovely daughter Nateisha who got married recently and now lives in UK.
